Success is a choice – What is Your Manifesto?

The word manifesto traces its roots to the Latin manifestum, which means clear or conspicuous.  A manifesto is defined as a declaration of one’s beliefs, opinions, motives, and intentions. It is simply a document that an organization or person writes that declares what is important to them.

A manifesto functions as both a statement of principles and a bold, sometimes rebellious, call to action. By causing people to evaluate the gap between those principles and their current reality, the manifesto challenges assumptions, fosters commitment, and provokes change.

While manifestos are traditionally public declarations, every person can also have a personal manifesto.

The Benefits of a Manifesto

As this article highlights, there are many benefits of a manifesto.  But to me, its value is found in its inspiration.   This is a statement of what you believe, your values, and how you chose to live your life, and your business.   It’s a medium through which your present self can correspond with your future self.

Write your manifesto when things are going well, and in the darker moments, it will guide you.  It contains decisions and commitments to your values.

When you’re going through something tough, it is difficult to have and hold a steady, objective mind.  This is when you pull out your manifesto.

With a manifesto, it’s like you always have access to a calmer, more rational you.

My Manifesto

I choose to have my personal manifesto identical to my Soulful Guides manifesto. Perhaps it will evolve, but for now, they are the same. Here are my soulful values…

  • I embrace a world that treats one another with dignityrespect and compassion.
  • Do not fear change – embrace It
  • Perform every action soulfully and with authenticity.
  • Believe you are a Soul in a physical form
  • Ignore the noise, listen to your Soul
  • We are on this planet to LEARN.  Never stop learning.
  • Travel is more than sightseeing; it is a change that goes on, deep and permanent in the ideas of living
  • Be AUTHENTIC in all your dealings
  • Know well what leads you forward and what holds you back
  • Choose the path that leads to wisdom
  • We are all connected
  • Focus
  • Travel is for growth – a pilgrimage
  • Holistic + ethical + spiritual = LIFE
  • That thing you avoid the most, you need the most
  • Operate from your heart
  • You are in control of your responses (all of them)
  • Relax and allow ideas to bubble up
